FindMovie requires no registration and no sign-in. We do not collect names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers or payment details. If you simply use the app to find something to watch, nothing about you is stored on our server.
Favorites, watched titles, your own lists, filter settings, selected country, language and appearance are stored solely in your browser or app storage (localStorage). We cannot access this data and it is never sent anywhere unless you yourself use sharing or device transfer.
Sharing picks: when you send someone your selection, we store a random link code, the country, the name you typed yourself, and the list of title IDs. Votes additionally store a random browser identifier (not derived from you or your device), the typed name and a timestamp. Device transfer: when you create a transfer code, your favorites, watched titles, lists and settings are stored under that code. The data is available to anyone who knows the code, so share it only with people you trust.
To know how many people use the site, we count visits ourselves — without cookies and without any third-party service. Your IP address and browser are turned into a one-way fingerprint using a salt that changes every day; only this fingerprint, a timestamp and the selected country are stored. The IP address is never stored, cannot be recovered from the fingerprint, and you cannot be recognised by it on another day. Records older than 90 days are deleted.
We do not store IP addresses, use no third-party advertising or analytics scripts, use no tracking cookies and pass nothing to advertisers. We do not build user profiles and we do not sell data.
Availability information, posters and ratings come from publicly available JustWatch data; displaying posters connects your browser to images.justwatch.com. Person profiles are loaded from Wikipedia. Links to IMDb, ČSFD and streaming services lead to third-party sites with their own policies.
The mobile app automatically saves your favorites, watched titles, lists and settings to your own private iCloud at Apple, so that your data comes back on a new phone. The backup travels directly between your device and your iCloud account — it does not pass through our servers and we cannot access it. It contains only lists of title identifiers and your settings, no personal data. You can switch it off by disabling iCloud for the app in your phone settings; to delete it, remove the app and turn iCloud off. You can also save a backup file yourself — it is created only on your device and goes only where you send it.
If you allow notifications in the mobile app, we store an anonymous device token from Apple or Google so we can send you alerts (for example that a favorite title is about to leave). You can turn notifications off in your phone settings at any time; we then stop using the token.
Because there are no accounts, we cannot link data to a specific person. Everything on your device is removed by clearing the app or browser data. To delete a shared selection or a transfer backup from the server, write to us with the code and we will remove it.
